EMT BASIC role responsible for recognizing medical emergencies, performing physical exams, instituting emergency therapies, and maintaining patient care quality. The position involves filing reports, effective communication with medical staff, transporting patients, operating emergency vehicles, equipment maintenance, and assisting in rescues. Required qualifications include EMT/EMT-B and CPR certifications, strong technical medical skills, and effective communication abilities. Candidates must maintain a professional attitude, learn rescue techniques, and be committed to continuous education in emergency medicine.
Required Qualifications
- EMT / EMT-B certification
- CPR for the Health Care Provider certification
- Good knowledge of street systems and addresses
- Ability to perform technical medical skills accurately
- Ability to deal with emotional and medical needs of victims
- Ability to maintain professional and objective care
- Ability to learn new rescue and medical skills
- Ability to direct and teach other personnel
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees and medical personnel
- Ability to drive and operate emergency ambulance units
- Ability to author reports with narrative and numeric information
Additional Requirements
- Incumbents must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency medicine
- Incumbents must attend continuing education classes to maintain certification
