Job Summary
Respond to emergency and non-emergency 911 calls, providing basic and advanced life support (BLS & ALS) as needed, and transport sick or injured persons to appropriate medical facilities. Operate specially equipped emergency vehicles in compliance with safety standards, maintaining vehicles and stations to high cleanliness expectations. Partner with Paramedics to deliver Advanced Life Support, assess patient risks, and complete all daily assignments, documentation, and patient care reports in accordance with Falck USA policies and medical protocols. Work closely with dispatchers to drive to specified locations while maintaining professional public image and adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current State of California EMS Card
- Current San Diego County EMS Card
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Current Ambulance Driver's Certificate
- Current American Heart Association CPR for the Healthcare Provider card or Current American Red Cross CPR Card
- Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Falck USA Driving Policy
- Completion of IS-100 b course from FEMA Website
- Completion of IS-200 a course from FEMA Website
- Completion of IS-700 a course from FEMA Website
- Completion of IS-800 a course from FEMA Website
- Completion of IS-5A a course from FEMA Website
- Other qualifications specific to the local operation and/or contract
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care
- Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence
- Physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of typical EMT duties including but not limited to bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting at established weight requirements, climbing, working at heights, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, teams, managers, supervisors, and external customers
- Excellent ability to communicate and work cohesively across Department lines
- Must have the ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers
- Strong organization skills and attentiveness to detail
- Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times
- Within 3 months of employment, EMT must have: CEVO (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator) or Falck USA equivalent
- State required courses as applicable
