Job Summary

Coordinate EMS recruitment, credentialing, and field training, including scheduling simulations, administering written tests, and managing candidate assessments. Deliver classroom, laboratory, and simulation instruction for EMR, EMT, and continuing education while developing remediation plans for learner deficiencies. Serve as the liaison with partner schools and agencies to coordinate student clinical rotations and capstone experiences. Analyze training data to identify trends requiring protocol clarification or additional monitoring. Maintain confidentiality of protected health and personnel records in accordance with HIPAA.

Required Qualifications

  • Current EMS Instructor license
  • Associate degree
  • Current Texas Department of State Health Services paramedic license or certification in good standing
  • Current National Registry Paramedic certification with the ability to obtain Texas licensure or certification within ninety (90) days of appointment
  • Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Instructor certification
  • Instructor certification issued by another state or recognized certifying body, such as TCFP or SFFMA, that permits reciprocity or qualification under applicable Texas requirements
  • Completion of Department precepting and protocol testing in accordance with current Cy-Fair Fire Department requirements
  • Current authorization to instruct ACLS, CPR, and approved NAEMT or comparable courses
  • Current provider-level certifications in AHA Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider CPR, AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, PHTLS or ITLS, AMLS, and EPC or PALS
  • Completion of NIMS ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Texas driver's license within thirty (30) days of appointment
  • Pre-employment medical examination
  • Drug testing
  • Background screening, including criminal history, employment verification, NPDB sanction screening, and a sex-offender registry search

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • NAEMT instructor
  • Texas Basic or Advanced EMS Course Coordinator certification
  • Completion of NIMS ICS-300 and ICS-400
  • Knowledge of adult-learning theories, competency-based educational principles, curriculum development, instructional design, evaluation methods, remediation practices, and techniques used to facilitate learning
  • Knowledge of EMS theory, clinical practice, operations, protocols, quality improvement, healthcare delivery systems, and current trends in emergency medical services
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and online learning management systems such as Medic-CE, Litmos, Vector Solutions/TargetSolutions, or comparable platforms
  • Strong project-planning, organizational, prioritization, time-management, verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, and documentation skills
  • Ability to evaluate learner and clinical performance, provide constructive feedback, develop remediation plans, conduct difficult conversations professionally, and maintain accurate and defensible records
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, policies, protocols, regulations, and Department requirements
