Job Summary
Dispatch emergency calls to closest appropriate units using CAD tools while monitoring radio frequencies for developing situations. Operate two-way radios and computer systems to relay information to field units, public safety agencies, and medical first responders. Interpret maps and screen data to determine locations, scan for available units, and manage multi-tasking priorities with excellent customer service. Maintain punctuality and adhere to safety procedures during shifts. Requires EMD certification, 35 WPM typing speed, and CritiCall testing.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have the ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute
- CritiCall (Computerized Critical Skills) testing with a minimum of 80% score
- Has successfully completed EMD certification in call taking and/or dispatching of medical emergency calls
- ability to hear, comprehend, and distinguish sounds and verbal communication in the presence of other distracting sounds via a headset, telephone, or other external source
