Job Summary
EMS Engineer – Level II is responsible for applying a solid understanding of energy management and building automation systems from a controls engineering perspective. Working under the Engineering Manager and senior EMS Engineers, this role independently produces complete engineering submittals, updates company standards, and demonstrates knowledge of control protocols, system integrations, and WebCTRL configurations. Requires familiarity with chilled water, hot water, domestic water, air pressure systems, electrical one-line diagrams, and related components. Participates in or independently performs system start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and testing, with close coordination to electricians and HVAC technicians. Responsibilities include developing engineering packages, adhering to wire labeling standards, planning workloads to meet deadlines and budgets, and communicating with leadership. Professional development, communication, teamwork, mentoring, and contributing to engineering standards are emphasized. Technical execution includes gathering project information, programming and configuring interface equipment, managing project databases, applying engineering standards, ensuring backups and communications are secure, and coordinating with project managers. The role involves knowledge of thermodynamics, differential, duct and building static pressure concepts, and central plant control sequences, with focus on delivering efficient, compliant engineering solutions and proactive scope/change detection.
