Job Summary
EMS Engineer – Level I focused on learning and applying the fundamentals of energy management and building automation from a controls engineering perspective. Responsibilities include developing installation submittals, I/O wiring diagrams, bills of material, controller programming, system graphics, and as-built documentation in alignment with company Installation and Commissioning Standards. May assist higher-level engineers or project managers during system start-up, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning. Requires coordination with other trades (electricians, HVAC technicians) and the ability to adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Skills emphasized: proficiency with Windows OS and basic applications (Word, Excel, email, web browsers); understanding ARC 156 Installation and Commissioning Standards; comprehension of HVAC equipment operation; fundamental electrical knowledge; reading and verifying equipment schematics; submitting timesheets on schedule; effective communication within teams and with external trades; independent and team work; managing multiple assignments; self-learning (especially with ALC technology and industry best practices); continuous improvement under supervision; punctuality and accountability; documenting requirements such as submittals, RFIs, and red-line markups; WebCTRL navigation and system layouts; familiarity with Eikon and graphics libraries; and ensuring documentation integrity and project alignment with standards.
