Job Summary
EMS Educator role at Indianapolis EMS involves delivering instruction to diverse learner groups (adult learners, students, public safety providers, university/college students), writing evaluation instruments, coordinating and delivering classroom, clinical, and field-based educational experiences, mentoring peers, maintaining records and reports, and communicating professionally with students and staff. The educator participates in CQI and research programs, coordinates clinical experiences, supports departmental and instructional meetings, and teaches EMT and Paramedic students. The role may involve instructional delivery in hybrid/remote formats and requires familiarity with national curricula, certifications, and HIPAA/privacy guidelines; it requires readiness to operate in various training settings and to participate in ongoing instructor certification processes.
Required Qualifications
- Indiana Paramedic License
- Minimum of five years clinical experience as a pre-hospital provider
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Valid Driver’s License - must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy
- Certification in ACLS, AHA CPR
- Instructor level certification in CPR, ACLS (candidates who do not hold all instructor certifications must enter next appropriate instructor course within one year of hire)
- Primary Instructor certification required or ability to enter next appropriate national/state instructor course within one year of hire
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
- AWR 111, 160
- Indiana EMS Commission EVOC Instructor preferred (if not held, must enter next available instructor course within one year)
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Read, write, speak English
- Ability to use instructional aids and AV equipment
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, databases, spreadsheets, test generators
- Present material in one-on-one, small group, and large audience settings
- Ability to deliver content remotely using hybrid delivery models
