Job Summary
Conduct regular risk assessments and facility inspections to identify hazards, vulnerabilities, and trends across operational, financial, legal, environmental, and safety domains. Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs consistent with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards while leading root-cause investigations for accidents and near-misses. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws related to safety, fleet, and workplace standards by coordinating audits, inspections, and insurance reviews. Manage claims reporting and investigations in coordination with carriers and legal counsel, analyzing data to identify loss trends and develop preventive measures. Participate in the development of emergency response and business continuity plans, facilitating post-incident reviews and readiness drills. Partner with Human Resources and Operations to promote fleet and driver safety compliance, chair the Safety and Risk Committee, and deliver ongoing training on safety policies and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in safety, compliance, or risk management
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, workers' compensation, and insurance principles
- Proven ability to balance field-level operations with policy development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and documentation capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in incident/risk management software
- On-site position availability
- Occasional travel availability for site inspections, training, and claims review meetings
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in transportation or service industry
- OSHA 30 certification
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
- Associate in risk management (ARM) certification
