Job Summary
Designs and develops software for a suite of Electric Power Grid EMS grid applications within the Grid & Market Solutions (GMS) Technology Development – Grid team. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing grid applications and interfaces using languages such as Fortran, C/C++, Java, Perl, and Python in Windows and Linux environments; performing backend database work with Oracle PL/SQL; migrating and upgrading EMS systems; applying optimization techniques (SCOPF/SCUC) and integrating AI/ML capabilities; deploying containerized microservices with Docker and Kubernetes; building cloud-native data pipelines and scalable analytics; conducting code reviews, unit/regression testing, and automating development processes with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket); collaborating with grid engineering, systems support, grid operations, training, and network modeling teams; ensuring compliance with ERCOT standards and SDLC processes; potential mentoring and leadership of junior developers; involvement with AI/ML strategy and implementation for grid analytics and forecasting; and participating in on-site work in Taylor, TX with a remote/hybrid arrangement. The role requires a minimum 3 years of related experience for Level 3 and 5+ years for Senior, with salary in the range $120,000-$165,000 and placement based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Required)
- Experience with EMS/MMS platforms desirable
- Programming in C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, or Fortran
- Oracle PL/SQL experience
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with AI/ML techniques and data analytics for forecasting and operational insights
- Strong debugging, code review, and testing skills
- Ability to work in on-site Taylor, TX with remote/hybrid arrangement
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and manage complex projects
