Job Summary
Conduct initial and ongoing vocational assessments for clients in transitional housing to develop recommendations for training and employment goals within the Independent Living Plan. Provide individual and group counseling to support clients toward employment as part of their permanency plan while delivering weekly informational vocational seminars. Record client progress on vocational goals in charts and refer clients to potential employment options through partnerships with Workforce One Job Centers. Collaborate as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary intensive case management team by communicating updates during case conferences and reviews. Perform other tasks as required to assist families in navigating NYC Human Resources Administration systems and obtaining employment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- 2+ years of relevant work experience with the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) or other similar city-operated organization
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
