Job Summary
Employment Specialist to support individuals with disabilities in identifying career goals, building job readiness skills, securing employment, and providing ongoing coaching and on-site/off-site support. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing individualized employment plans with participants and their support teams, coaching in resume development and interview preparation, conducting mock interviews and role-plays, guiding job search strategies, matching participants to suitable opportunities, coordinating applications and follow-up, advocating for accommodations when needed, providing on-the-job coaching to ensure successful onboarding and retention, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting. The role emphasizes building relationships with employers and community partners, delivering person-centered supports, and staying informed on supported employment best practices. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, experience with individuals facing employment barriers, strong interpersonal and coaching skills, ability to work independently, knowledge of job search resources, and a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, diverse populations, or individuals facing barriers to employment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and function effectively in a community-based role
- Knowledge of job search strategies, employment resources, and local labor market trends
- Familiarity with accommodations, disability rights laws, and vocational rehabilitation services (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
