Employment Specialist (House East)

Job Summary

Meet clients regarding employment needs, assess history, and establish viable job search plans. Assist with resume development, register for training programs, and conduct workshops on interview skills and time management. Develop partnerships with employers and agencies to secure opportunities, coordinate internal and external job fairs, and escort clients to events. Schedule computer usage sessions, document interactions in case notes, and track workshop attendance. Complete reports supporting departmental activities and participate in team meetings. Work evenings and weekends, travel throughout the NYC area, and lift up to 30 pounds weekly.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adults on career coaching, workforce development or job placement
  • Experience in working with individuals affected by mental illness, substance abuse, and/or homelessness
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Excellent analytical, evaluative, and human service management skills
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills and organizational skills
  • Must have incredible initiative, the ability to work well under pressure, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to complete complex projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop relationships and partnerships with potential employers, government agencies, and external organizations to develop employment and training opportunities for clients
  • Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule
  • Traveling throughout various locations in the New York City area
  • Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds several times a week

Desired Qualifications

  • BA/BS Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Career Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or Human Services is preferred
