Job Summary
Employment Specialist delivers Employment Re-Entry Skills and Job Placement/Retention/Advancement curriculum to inmates, recruits and orients potential employers, assists with job checks, assesses inmates' skills for potential employment, assists inmates with completing resumes and job applications, provides employment counseling, delivers budgeting skill curriculum and assists inmates with their weekly budgeting skills. Responsibilities include developing new job contacts for inmate employment, auditing employment files, updating employment information, conducting Job Readiness and Job Coping classes, coordinating inmate transportation, attending department and clinical staff meetings, monitoring schedules and salaries, visiting inmate employers, monitoring job interviews and searches, developing and maintaining a current job bank, and verifying inmate employment prior to work on-site. Requirements emphasize education in personnel management, marketing/advertising, human services, public relations, or related fields, with full-time experience in those areas.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or an Associate Degree and two (2) years of full-time related work experience; or High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of full-time related work experience.
