Job Summary
Provide vocational counseling, career exploration, and employment readiness support to young adults or adults with serious mental illness. Help participants identify employment goals, develop individualized plans, and build résumes while offering job coaching and retention support. Identify employment, internship, and training opportunities through employer engagement and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Maintain accurate documentation and stay informed about labor market trends. This candidate pool supports future Employment Specialist and IPS Specialist roles across Community Programs, including Adolescent Skills Centers and the Older Adult ACT program, with full-time, hybrid or remote schedules and competitive hourly pay.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of experience providing vocational or employment services to youth
- Skill in youth engagement, vocational counseling, and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of labor market trends and employer expectations
- Experience with evidence-based practices and job coaching models
- Bachelor's degree in a mental health or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders
- Minimum of 1 year experience in job development and employer engagement with underserved communities
- Ability to travel 75–100% throughout NYC boroughs and nearby counties
- Cultural competence in mental health, disability, and employment settings
- Strong crisis response and sound judgment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary behavioral health teams
- Proficiency in documentation and electronic health record systems
