Job Summary
Provide individual employment counselling and program referrals, including completing common assessments to assess client needs and develop service plans. Demonstrate outcome-focused case management by maintaining complete client case files in compliance with Employment Ontario requirements and utilizing CRM systems for ongoing follow-up. Interview clients to ensure they possess appropriate resume and interview skills, then collaborate with community partners to handle high-volume referrals. Develop strategies fitting clients' disabilities and transferable skills to assist them in securing and maintaining employment with successful retention at 3, 6, and 12 months. This role supports the JVS Specialized Employment Services program, which empowers individuals with disabilities to build meaningful careers across Toronto and York Region.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of disabilities (ODSP client population), including learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, and mental health challenges in vocational and employment settings
- Strong counselling skills
- Experience facilitating groups for a range learning styles
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of adult learning approaches
- Certification from VRA Canada or ICCI
