Job Summary

Lead as the legal advisor for complex, high-risk employment matters across India and the broader APAC region, shaping regional employment-law strategy and driving policy, process, and system changes. Oversee employment documents, investigation protocols, and SOPs to ensure multi-jurisdictional compliance; provide second-line escalation on personnel investigations (POSH, whistleblower, retaliation) and guide HRBs and Internal Committees. Partner with HR leadership to align people programs with Freshworks’ values, risk appetite, and global standards; collaborate with Security, Privacy, and Compliance on risk assessments, audits, and controls. Manage external counsel on significant or multi-jurisdictional matters and mentor professionals supporting employment work. In Corporate matters, act as governance advisor to the Board and senior leadership, oversee statutory filings, board/committee governance, and maintain regulatory compliance, including governance frameworks and training for global teams. Ideal candidate holds a law degree (LL.B.) with potential LL.M. or governance qualifications and has ~12–16 years of relevant experience in top law firms or in-house roles within multinational or listed tech/SaaS companies.

Required Qualifications

  • Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognised university; LL.M., company secretary, or additional governance qualification preferred
  • Approximately 12–16 years of post-qualification experience in employment law and corporate governance, preferably in tech/SaaS
  • Experience handling senior exits, restructures, investigations, regulatory matters, and governance for multinational or listed companies
  • Strong familiarity with POSH regimes, whistleblower/ethics frameworks, and privacy requirements (GDPR/CCPA/DPDP)
  • Ability to influence and counsel senior stakeholders (Board, HR leadership, CXOs) and lead cross-functional projects
  • Proven capability to design and scale governance programs, playbooks, templates, and training for global teams
