Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary
Draft and administer performance improvement plans, written counsels, and corrective action documentation while tracking timelines and milestones. Coach managers on delivering fair, consistent, and legally defensible performance feedback and difficult conversations. Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries regarding performance management, workplace policies, and general employee relations matters. Maintain thorough, accurate, and confidential case files, including investigation notes, and support lower-complexity workplace investigations by gathering documentation and preparing draft summaries. Coordinate meetings with regional leadership, escalate complex or high-risk matters, and identify potential compliance concerns related to employment laws. Review draft documentation for clarity, consistency, and policy alignment before manager approval. Assist with manager training, HR policy updates, and ER reporting, while supporting exit interview administration and trend analysis.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience
- exposure to employee relations, performance management, corrective actions, and workplace investigations
- 1+ years with experience drafting, reviewing, or administering performance improvement plans, written counsels, corrective action documentation, or related HR documentation
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and related labor standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, diplomacy and discretion

Desired Qualifications
- Professional HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP
- Experience with HRIS, case management tools, Paycom, Paycom Reporting, and/or Yardi
