Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary

Partner with regional and store managers on employee relations matters, including policy compliance, performance management, conflict resolution, and coaching for success. Investigate and advise on employee concerns or complaints, while reviewing and approving pay-related changes in the HRIS system. Support the rollout of new HR initiatives and present training to new and promoted managers. Identify ADA, leave, and workers' compensation needs to coordinate next steps with the Leaves team. Manage complex HR issues in a retail, multi-unit environment with up to 10% travel required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field
  • Minimum 3 years Human Resource Generalist or Employee Relations experience
  • HR Generalist knowledge—broad base of all HR disciplines and application; onboarding to separation
  • Working knowledge and experience of HR laws--Federal and State, including FMLA, ADA, WC and general HR governing policies
  • Experience with verbal and written responses to unemployment claims and EEO issues
  • Demonstrated effective judgment in managing difficult situations with ability to respond to situations with urgency, in a calm and proactive manner
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding employee information
  • Confident in interacting with and influencing individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically or through other means to individuals or groups
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding employee information
  • Subject matter expert in Employee Relations
  • Experienced in the application of negotiation and mediation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms
  • Strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • General business acumen and financial knowledge
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Up to 10% travel required

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred
  • Experience with verbal and written responses to unemployment claims and EEO issues
  • HRIS platform experience preferred
