Job Summary
Administer pre-placement, periodic, and return-to-work health screenings and coordinate immunization programs per OSHA, CDC, and IDPH mandates. Conduct tuberculosis screening, manage post-exposure follow-up for bloodborne pathogens, and oversee respiratory protection clearance and fit-testing. Maintain confidential employee health records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including TJC and OSHA standards. Collaborate with HR and legal counsel on workers' compensation cases, disability accommodations, and return-to-work programs. Partner with Infection Prevention to monitor healthcare-associated exposures, lead outbreak investigations, and support emergency operations plans for mass casualty and pandemic scenarios. Deliver mandatory training on bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication, and PPE selection while serving as a subject matter expert on occupational health regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Illinois
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience
- At least two (2) years in occupational health, employee health, or a related specialty
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or equivalent)
- CPR required
- PALS required
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) through the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN)
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC)
- Case Management Certification (CCM) or other relevant credentials
- Prior experience in an acute-care hospital or integrated health system
- Familiarity with Chicago Department of Public Health reporting protocols and Illinois Administrative Code health mandates
- Experience with Workers' Compensation case management software and occupational health EMR platforms (e.g., OHM, Cority)
