Job Summary
Team Lead, Employee Benefits renewal underwriting responsible for leading the renewal underwriting team for groups under 500 lives. Reviews renewals and process changes, reinforces underwriting fundamentals to improve bench strength, and actively develops staff toward increased effectiveness. Partners with the field to meet service goals, understands marketplace dynamics, and collaborates across teams to solve problems. Requires a customer‐first mindset, strong negotiation and coaching skills, change-management ability, and a collaborative work approach. Hybrid schedule with in-office presence in Hartford, CT; Lake Mary, FL; and Alpharetta, GA (3 days per week, Tue–Thu). Compensation includes base pay range of $78,000–$117,000 with additional rewards/benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Employee Benefits experience in Underwriting or related
- Leadership or Mentorship experience preferred
- Strong underwriting technical skills
- Demonstrates solid underwriting guidelines and risk management philosophy
- Ability to develop staff and coach teams
- Strong negotiation and change-management capabilities
- Ability to collaborate across teams and with field partners
- Financial mindset to inform decision-making
- Proven ability to work in a fluid, changing business environment
