Emergency Veterinary Technician

Job Summary
Maintain medical records, prepare surgical suites, and perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging while supporting veterinarians during triage and examinations. Provide direct care to boarded and hospitalized pets, including feeding required diets, administering IV catheter placement, and phlebotomy. Ensure all animal care areas, cages, and laundry are sanitized daily and restock supplies. Alert DVMs promptly of patient issues and provide client education when appropriate. Work weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts to handle life-threatening emergencies involving trauma, seizures, and infections.
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience as a veterinary technician
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends
- Experience with veterinary software (e.g. Neo, AVImark, Cornerstone)
- Ability to work regular weekends, evenings and/or overnights
- Must be comfortable working with canine and feline animals and know how to restrain them properly for evaluation and procedures
- Familiar with proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques
- Solid veterinary knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats) and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and calmly under challenging conditions
