Job Summary

Conduct triage, examinations, and medical treatments for trauma and emergency patients, including those with gunshot wounds, lacerations, heatstroke, and seizures. Prepare surgical suites, perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging, and administer IV catheter placement and phlebotomy. Maintain medical records, fill prescriptions, and provide compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized pets while ensuring daily sanitization of cages, dishes, and laundry areas. Feed animals required diets and restock supplies, alerting the DVM promptly of any patient issues. Work nights, weekends, and holidays with two or more years of experience, utilizing veterinary software such as Neo or AVImark.

Required Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience as a veterinary technician
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends
  • Experience with veterinary software (e.g. Neo, AVImark, Cornerstone)
  • Ability to work regular weekends, evenings and/or overnights
  • Must be comfortable working with canine and feline animals
  • Must know how to restrain animals properly for evaluation and procedures
  • Must be familiar with proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques
  • Must be able to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats)
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to perform I.V. catheter placement
  • Must be able to perform phlebotomy
  • Must be able to perform surgical prep
  • Must be able to perform anesthesia/surgical monitoring
  • Must be able to perform X-Rays
  • Must have solid veterinary knowledge
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Must have ability to work independently, efficiently, and calmly under challenging conditions
  • Must have ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats)
  • Must have ability to work regular weekends, evenings and/or overnights
