Job Summary
Emergency Veterinary Technician - Overnight in Blaine, MN for BluePearl Pet Hospital; part-time overnight position in Emergency and Critical Care. Responsibilities include inducing, monitoring and recovering anesthesia; triaging emergency cases and obtaining vitals; performing digital radiography; monitoring vital signs (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation); calculating medical math and administering medications; phlebotomy and placing IV catheters; placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central lines; mentoring and training other staff; requires weekend availability; teamwork in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Veterinary Technician in Emergency/ICU setting
- Weekend availability
- Ability to induce and monitor anesthesia
- Proficiency in radiography and phlebotomy
- Place and maintain intravenous catheters; perform phlebotomy
- Interpret vital signs and monitor anesthesia during critical care
- Provide mentoring and training to co-workers
- Ability to calculate medical math and administer medications
