Job Summary
Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care while assisting with treatments, diagnostics, and procedures ranging from bloodwork to catheter placement. Monitor anesthesia and sedation cases alongside registered veterinary technicians and veterinarians, managing IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration. Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care across outpatient and inpatient settings. Learn CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer through provided training, with opportunities to advance into anesthesia support and ultrasound via guided pathways. Work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with strong odors, requiring physical stamina for prolonged standing and lifting up to 25 kg independently.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
- Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
Desired Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited veterinary technology program
- 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role
- Emergency or specialty experience
- Basic computer skills
- Comprehension of practice management software
- Electronic medical record keeping
