Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG in Chapel Hill, NC. Be the first warm welcome, triage incoming patients, assist with treatments, nursing care, diagnostics, anesthesia support, IV fluids, and medication administration. Join rounds, learn CPR (RECOVER Certified Rescuer training provided), and grow into more advanced responsibilities such as anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization through guided training pathways.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus
- 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus)
- Basic computer skills and EMR software knowledge
- Excellent communicator with pets parents and team
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment
- Ability to stand for long hours, kneel and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance)
- Willingness to work in noisy environments with odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
