Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Relief) - Asheville, NC

Job Summary
Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care while assisting with treatments, nursing, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, and oxygen support. Monitor anesthesia and sedation cases alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians, managing IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration. Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer protocols. Perform catheterization and ultrasound support through guided training pathways. Work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis in a fast-paced environment, lifting up to 25 kg independently.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours
- Ability to kneel
- Ability to work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
- Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Must be willing to work in a noisy environment
- Must be willing to work in an environment with strong or unpleasant odors
