Job Summary
Triage incoming patients and assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, and oxygen support. Work alongside veterinarians and technicians to set up and monitor anesthesia cases, manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration. Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer protocols. Perform tasks in outpatient and inpatient settings, from exam rooms to treatment areas, while adhering to state law. This part-time role offers flexible schedules and rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. VEG provides training pathways to advanced responsibilities like ultrasound and catheterization, supported by unlimited ER CE and travel stipends for credentialed staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding of practice management software
- Understanding of electronic medical record keeping
- Excellent communication skills
- Fine motor skills
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours
- Ability to kneel
- Ability to work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
- Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment
- Willingness to work with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights
- Availability to work weekends

Desired Qualifications
- Enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
- 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role
- Emergency experience
