Job Summary

Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care while assisting with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics ranging from bloodwork and imaging to catheter placement and oxygen support. Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases, manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration across outpatient and inpatient settings. Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer protocols. This part-time role offers a rotating or as-needed schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, with availability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment. The position provides guided training pathways to advance into anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization, supported by unlimited ER CE and travel stipends.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of practice management software
  • Understanding of electronic medical record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fine motor skills
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours
  • Ability to kneel
  • Ability to work on the floor
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
  • Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment
  • Willingness to work with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Availability to work nights

Desired Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
  • 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role
  • Emergency experience
