Job Summary
Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care, while assisting with treatments, nursing, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, and oxygen support. Work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases, manage IV fluids and blood transfusions, and administer medications. Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer skills. Grow into advanced responsibilities such as anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization through guided training pathways. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours
- Ability to kneel
- Ability to work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
- Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital demands
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
Desired Qualifications
- Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
- 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role
- Emergency or specialty experience
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding of practice management software
- Understanding of electronic medical record keeping
- Excellent communication skills when collaborating with pet parents and your team
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment
- Willingness to work with strong or unpleasant odors
