Job Summary
Provide compassionate emergency nursing care to canine/feline and other patients, perform basic to intermediate nursing tasks, monitor patients, triage incoming emergencies, administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications, set up and monitor IV fluids and blood transfusions, contribute to outpatient and inpatient care, participate in patient rounds, and support anesthesia under supervision. Work as a vital member of VEG’s nursing care team with opportunities for advanced training and growth through pathways such as trainer roles, coordination of care, and leadership. Must demonstrate excellent communication with peers and clients and a customer-first mindset.
Required Qualifications
- RECOVER Certified Rescuer CPR training
- Ability to administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications
- Knowledge of IV fluid therapy and blood transfusion basics
- Ability to triage emergencies and monitor patients
- Experience working as part of a veterinary nursing/technician team
- Willingness to learn advanced diagnostic techniques (in-house tests, point-of-care tests, imaging)
- Ability to set up and assist with anesthesia under LVT or DVM supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort with fast-paced emergency care environments
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and proactive approach
- Willingness to pursue growth paths such as trainer, coordination of care, community outreach, leadership
