Job Summary
Be the first warm welcome and steady support in emergency veterinary care. Triage incoming patients, assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, oxygen support). Work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation. Set up IV fluids, blood transfusions, and administer medications. Participate in patient rounds, maintain continuity of care, and learn through guided training pathways to grow into advanced responsibilities such as anesthesia support and ultrasound. CPR training and RECOVER certification are provided. This role involves both outpatient and inpatient care and offers growth opportunities within a fast-paced emergency veterinary environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus
- 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus)
- Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR
- Excellent communicator with pet parents and team
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment
- Ability to stand, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg (support up to 40 kg)
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
