Job Summary
Emergency Veterinarian in Whitby, Ontario: Lead and participate in emergency care for companion animals and exotics in a 24/7 hospital. Responsibilities include triage, rapid examination, performing physicals, ordering/performing diagnostics (ultrasound, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies), formulating diagnostic and therapeutic plans, communicating treatment options to clients, preparing cost estimates, maintaining medical records, and educating owners on aftercare. The role involves performing minor and major emergency surgeries, endoscopic procedures, and contributing to a collaborative team environment with ongoing education and mentorship. Requires a DVM degree or equivalent and current licensure by the Ontario College of Veterinarians, with availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- A DVM degree or equivalent
- Must be licensed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
- Thrive in team-oriented environments
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg; support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with strong odors
