Job Summary
Emergency Veterinarian role focused on handling a broad range of emergency cases in a fast-paced veterinary hospital. Responsibilities include triage and immediate patient assessment, performing physical exams, diagnostic workups (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies), formulating diagnostic and therapeutic plans, communicating diagnosis and treatment options to clients, preparing and presenting estimates, maintaining accurate medical records, and performing both minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures. The position emphasizes leadership on the hospital floor, mentorship and continuous learning through VEG Education programs and CE opportunities, and collaboration within a team to deliver high-quality care for all animals, including exotics. Must thrive in a team environment, be able to work nights/weekends/holidays on a rotating basis, and be comfortable in a busy, high-energy setting with variable odors. Required Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Live and breathe emergency medicine (including emergency surgery and endoscopy)
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg (assistance to 40 kg)
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with strong odors
- Team-oriented mindset and collaboration skills
- Strong communication with clients and ability to present treatment options and estimates
- Experience with ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies
- Ability to create diagnostic and therapeutic plans and medical records
