Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Veterinarian at VEG in Washington, DC. Handle emergency cases across medicine and surgery, including exotics, with on-the-floor leadership and mentorship opportunities. Responsibilities include triage, immediate patient assessment, performing physical exams, diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies), forming diagnostic and therapeutic plans, communicating options to clients, preparing estimates, maintaining medical records, and conducting both minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures. Requires ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift as needed, and work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. Emphasizes compassionate, team-oriented care and ongoing education through VEG Education programs and CE. A DVM or equivalent degree is required, with strong emphasis on emergency medicine and endoscopy; a supportive, fast-paced environment with a focus on mentorship and growth.
