Job Summary
Answer medical questions over the phone, triage patients immediately, and conduct physical examinations including ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies. Create diagnoses and therapeutic plans, communicate treatment options directly with customers, and prepare estimates. Perform minor and major emergency surgeries, endoscopic procedures, and educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures. Maintain accurate medical records and address customer concerns regarding test value and treatment benefits. This part-time role requires a DVM or equivalent with expertise in emergency surgery and endoscopy. Candidates must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. VEG offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $350,000 for full-time positions, plus travel stipends and unlimited continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- A DVM or equivalent degree
- Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (the soft tissue kind!) and endoscopy
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
