Job Summary
As an Emergency Veterinarian at VEG in Oklahoma City, OK, you’ll lead on the hospital floor delivering emergency veterinary care for a range of cases (including exotics) with a strong mentorship culture. You’ll perform physical examinations, gather signalment and presenting complaints, and conduct diagnostics (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies) to create diagnostic and therapeutic plans. You’ll communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients, prepare estimates, and maintain accurate medical records. You’ll perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures, educate clients on aftercare and prevention, and contribute to a fast-paced ER team focused on continuous learning through VEG Education programs and CE opportunities. Required Qualifications
- A DVM or equivalent degree
- Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (soft tissue) and endoscopy
- Thrive in team-oriented environments
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor; lift up to 25 kg and support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
- Demonstrated empathy, ownership, curiosity, and collaborative mindset
