Job Summary
Answer medical questions over the phone and see patients immediately via VEG Triage and VEG Spikes. Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and perform physical examinations, including ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies. Complete diagnoses, create therapeutic plans, and communicate treatment options directly with customers while preparing estimates. Perform minor and major emergency surgeries, endoscopic procedures, and educate families on after care and preventative measures. Maintain accurate medical records and address customer concerns regarding tests and treatments.
Required Qualifications
- A DVM degree or equivalent
- Must be licensed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
- Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (the soft tissue kind!) and endoscopy
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odours
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
