Job Summary
Emergency Veterinarian role in Chantilly, VA focusing on rapid assessment and treatment of diverse emergency cases, including exotics. Responsibilities include triage and urgent care, physical examinations, diagnostic testing (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies), developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans, communicating diagnoses and options with clients, preparing estimates, maintaining medical records, performing both minor and major emergency surgeries, endoscopic procedures, client aftercare education, and contributing to a culture of mentorship and continuous learning with VEG Education programs and ER-focused CE. The position supports a team-driven environment with opportunities for growth, leadership on the hospital floor, and dedicated pathways for learning and career advancement. Requirements include DVM or equivalent, passion for emergency medicine, ability to work in a fast-paced, high-noise setting, and availability for nights and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- A DVM or equivalent degree
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor; lift up to 25 kg and support up to 40 kg
- Experience in emergency medicine and emergency surgery (soft tissue) including endoscopy preferred
