Job Summary
Provide patient services and care in the Emergency Department while collecting data on patient status to report to licensed clinical staff. Clean, maintain, and stock supplies and equipment; apply principles of standard precautions and infection control. Perform clerical duties, safety attendant tasks, and other assigned responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse or medical staff. Assist with room turnaround, including cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment. Adhere to safety measures and department policies. Full-time schedule from 11am-11pm and 1pm-1am with on-call responsibilities as directed. Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs
- Ability to use Safe Handling Equipment for any weight over 35 lbs
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills
- Attention to detail and ability to write legibly
- Basic patient assessment skills including primary survey
- Basic knowledge of primary interventions
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- High level of compassion, desire to help others, and self-confidence
- Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills
- Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed
- On call responsibilities as directed
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of ED Technician experience
- Phlebotomy, ECG Tech, or EMT licensure
- EMT-B or nursing student in final year as verified by official transcript
- ECG course/certification
- Medical terminology
- EMT-B/I/P
