Job Summary
Conduct direct and indirect, age-specific patient care as directed while accepting changing assignments as a Patient Care Assistant, Telemetry Technician, and Unit Secretary under nurse supervision. Utilize effective interpersonal skills to maximize safe patient care, professionalism, and customer service within a culturally diverse workforce. Troubleshoot patient care equipment, manage multiple assignments, and prioritize workload while communicating positively with patients and staff. Maintain basic math functions and attention to detail for accurate event reporting and electronic medical record usage. Requires BLS certification and CNA or EMT credentials; offers flexible shift rotation in the emergency department.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
- Completion of School of Nursing fundamentals
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Ability to read, write legibly and speak in English
- Ability to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position
- Ability to troubleshoot patient care equipment
- Ability to perform basic non-licensed patient care activities
- Ability to comprehend and follow-through with instructions
- Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others
- Ability to be assertive and consistent in following policies
- Ability to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure

Desired Qualifications
- Completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program
- Minimum of six months experience as paramedic transport, telemetry technician, unit secretary or patient care assistant
- Ability to speak in Spanish
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
