Emergency Room Technician I - Evenings/Nights

Job Summary

Perform basic patient care under supervision of the Registered Nurse, including triage, wound care, splinting, and EKGs. Assist with transporting patients, medications, and blood products while maintaining specimen integrity and conducting blood glucose monitoring. Provide unit desk clerk functions and support multidisciplinary care plans for rehabilitation. Transport non-controlled medications as needed and assist patients with daily activities, lifting, and positioning. Report changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse and ensure the unit environment aligns with all policies and procedures. Work three 12-hour shifts weekly from 7pm to 7:30am, rotating every other weekend and holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance

  • Ability to carry out multidisciplinary care plan for each patient
  • Ability to perform unit desk clerk functions when needed
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure, according to physician order
  • Ability to use two patient identifiers with proper labeling
  • Ability to perform Blood glucose monitoring
  • Ability to perform Urine and stoolSputumiStat testing
  • Ability to transport patients into and out of the department to other areas of the hospital for tests
  • Ability to transport medications to and from pharmacy and within the unit along with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank
  • Ability to assist patients with daily activities including undressing and dressing as well as lifting and positioning them to complete certain procedures
  • Ability to transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic and unit
  • Ability to coordinate relations between care providers, patients, and visitors
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment
  • Ability to satisfy all job specific obligations and comply with all organization policies and procedures
