Job Summary
EDT functions as a technician, supply aide, and unit clerk in the Emergency Department under RN supervision. Responsible for stocking supplies/equipment, operating the computer/telephone, interfacing with patients and families, providing directions/referrals, and performing procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, IV access, wound care, and assisting with room turnover. Role requires setup/maintenance of sterile equipment, adherence to ENA/ED policies, and supporting rapid patient care in a fast-paced ED environment. Requires ability to use the ED computer system, document charges, participate in Code Blue, and communicate effectively with staff. Must meet physical requirements (heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, manual dexterity) and work variable hours in a hospital setting. Must hold or attain Nevada EMT/Advanced EMT certification and BLS with ACLS within 6 months, plus six months EMT/Advanced EMT experience or one year as an EDT. FLSA: Non-Exempt, hourly.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of Basic or Advanced EMT course
- State of Nevada EMT or Advanced EMT certification or National Registry AEMT
- Current BLS certification by American Heart Association
- ACLS certification within 6 months
- Six months of EMT or Advanced EMT experience, or one year as an emergency room technician
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients and co-workers
