Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, performing venipuncture, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, ECGs, and a range of nursing-support tasks under supervision. Responsibilities include patient hygiene and nourishment, transport and ambulation assistance, ROM exercises, infection control, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with medical staff to respond to life-threatening emergencies. Requires completing required BLS certification within 60 days and meeting state nursing/medical assisting education or credentialing requirements as outlined; emphasizes ability to follow instructions, work with a team, and deliver compassionate, bedside care in a high-acuity setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED or HS equivalency diploma
- One (1) year experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, nursing assistant or hospital aide; or possession of thirty (30) semester hours from a school of professional nursing; or completion of a practical nursing program; or completion of a certificate program as a medical assistant or closely related program
- Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an ECMCC approved provider within sixty (60) days of appointment and maintenance thereafter
- Ability to perform venipuncture, vital signs measurement, patient care duties, infection control, and routine hospital tasks as described in the job posting
