Emergency Room Technician

Job Summary

Collect, report, and document clinical data including vital signs, intake and output, and specimens. Perform laboratory testing in accordance with COLA and CLIA regulations. Assist with patient activities, wound care, safety, and aseptic techniques while maintaining privacy. Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Prepare patients for examinations and maintain care areas with appropriate supplies. Collect and document data related to patient needs, emergencies, and unusual behaviors. Travel to all facility locations as required. Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned. Swing shift from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of Medical Corpsman program and one year of applicable experience
  • Completion of EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic), AEMT (Advanced-EMT), Licensed Paramedic (LP) course/program and one year of applicable experience
  • Completion of the first year of education and current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and one year of applicable experience
  • 2+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician
  • 3+ years as a CNA with relevant hospital experience
  • 3+ years as a Certified Anesthesia Tech/OR Tech experience
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Current ACLS/ALS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Active Paramedic (EMT-P) license
  • Active Advanced EMT (A-EMT) license
  • Completion of an IV certification course
  • Active phlebotomy license
  • Lab Assistant certification
  • Fluency in English; written and oral communication
  • Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance)
  • Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance)
  • Travel to all facility locations as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic) and 1+ years of emergency room experience as an ER Technician or hospital equivalent experience
  • Current PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG
  • Exceptions where it is strongly preferred include Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, El Paso, DFW, and Central PA (WellSpan Hospitals)
  • Wisconsin (required only for EMT-P roles)
