Job Summary
Provide emergency and medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population during night shifts, including rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Educate patients and families, communicate critical observations to providers, and accurately document patient information while carrying out provider orders. Maintain competency through BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NRP certifications, with GMHC offering courses to help obtain necessary credentials. This full-time role supports recent graduates and experienced nurses within a collaborative environment, offering mentorship and the Jump Start Program for eligible nursing students.
Required Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program
- Current RN license with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for Iowa licensure
- Strong communication, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively educate patients and families and communicate patient observations and changes in condition to healthcare providers
- Ability to accurately document patient information and carry out provider orders
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Post-offer, pre-employment fit-for-duty assessment
