Job Summary
ER Physician PRN for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Deliver direct emergency patient care (~95%), evaluate and stabilize patients, manage trauma and medical emergencies, and supervise emergency procedures (airway management, intubation, central lines, chest tubes, procedural sedation, fracture reduction). Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers, review inpatient admissions, ensure VA wait-time standards, document in the VA EHR, participate in quality assurance and safety activities, coordinate transfers when higher levels of care are required, and provide discharge instructions. Requires emergency medicine board certification, medical license, BLS/ACLS, DEA, and ability to work nights/weekends/holidays; VA background check; no sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- Current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (VA-approved)
- Active DEA registration
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must meet VA background and suitability requirements
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
