Job Summary
CDL-A Equipment Operator for emergency rail-response tasks in Richmond, VA. Responsibilities include loading/unloading and safe transportation of equipment/materials to/from job sites, operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, backhoes, cranes, rail-bound gear) when qualified, and supporting rerailing, track maintenance, load transfer, and related repairs. Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections per DOT regulations, ensure load securement and permits for oversized/overweight equipment, and assist with crane setup and rigging during recovery operations. Participate in daily safety meetings, support railroad recovery and track maintenance projects, perform site cleanup/demobilization, and assist with equipment assembly/disassembly and transport preparation. Requires travel for projects, on-call emergency dispatches 24/7, and overtime opportunities; benefits include per diem, company-paid lodging when traveling, health/life insurance, and PTO.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Acceptable driving record
- Experience performing physical labor in construction, industrial, transportation, or related environments
- Ability to pass required training, qualification, and safety programs
- Willingness to respond to emergency callouts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
