Job Summary
Emergency Rail Recovery Operator responsible for rerailing operations and related field tasks in Richmond, VA. Key duties include pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and equipment per DOT standards, safe transport of machinery and materials, verification of permits for oversized/overweight loads, loading/unloading and staging of equipment, and active participation in rail recovery, track maintenance, repairs, and new construction projects. Operates cranes and heavy equipment as qualified (including excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, and more), assists with rigging, and follows all safety procedures. Requires on-call availability for emergency dispatches 24/7, overtime opportunities, company-paid lodging for overnight travel, per diem, and involvement in planning, site restoration, and interdepartmental support. Performs maintenance and minor repairs, documents service needs, and maintains clean work areas.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Safe driving history and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Experience performing physical labor in construction, industrial, transportation, or related environments
- Ability to successfully complete required qualification, safety, and training programs
- Willingness to remain on-call and respond to emergency service requests, including nights, weekends, and holidays
