Job Summary
Provide emergency medical care and manage trauma patients at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. Maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS). Teach residents and interns while managing clinical duties in an American College of Surgeons accredited Level 1 Trauma Center. Hold a valid unrestricted Texas license and DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances. Requires a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree, Board Certification in Emergency Medicine, and two years of post-residency teaching and clinical emergency medicine experience.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada
- Degree accredited by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM)
- Certification in Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certification in Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
- Two years of experience as a practicing independent Emergency Medicine Physician in the last three (3) years
- Residency training and completion of a three (3) year Emergency Medicine program accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education
- Two (2) years of experience of full-time work in the American College of Surgeons accredited Level 1 Trauma Center
- Two (2) years of teaching and clinical emergency medicine experience post residency
- Education of resident and interns
- Proven academic potential as demonstrated by teaching publications and specialty society membership
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine from the ABEM or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Physicians
- Valid unrestricted current Texas license
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number (certificate)
