Job Summary
Emergency Medicine Physician needed to staff Centra’s network of four Virginia ERs (Lynchburg General, Bedford Memorial, Gretna Medical Center, Southside Community Hospital) with board-certified or board-eligible physicians. Role includes a physician-heavy, employed staffing model, equitable scheduling, an orientation period, an active nocturnist program, and options for days/evenings only with no night shifts. Typical shifts are 10 hours with staffing based on patient arrivals and acuity; patient load estimated at 1.7–2.2 patients per hour. Benefits include sign-on bonus, relocation assistance up to $15,000, CME allowance, malpractice tail, and retirement plan options. Requires MD/DO and ABMS certification in emergency medicine; residency/fellowship training completed. Location-specific postings include Lynchburg, Farmville, Bedford, and Gretna, VA, each with in-person work requirements. Required Qualifications
- MD/DO with ABMS board certification in Emergency Medicine or in process of certifying
- Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in emergency medicine
- Board certified or in the process of certifying in emergency medicine
- Employed group staffing model
- Active nocturnist program; nocturnists schedule control
- No scheduled call; guaranteed time off
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts and manage patient acuity
